In 2019, British pilots Steve Boultbee-Brooks and Matt Jones wrote aviation history by circumnavigating the world in a Spitfire for the first time.
On their record-breaking journey in the "Silver Spitfire", the two founders of the Boultbee Flight Academy covered almost 43,000 kilometres in four months, visiting over 20 countries on their way. Having been the primary partner and official timekeeper of the mission, IWC celebrates this milestone with a unique timepiece. The Big Pilot's Watch Big Date Spitfire Edition "Mission Accomplished" is limited to 500 pieces. It has an olive green dial and is housed in a bronze case, which develops a distinctive patina over time. The hand-wound IWC-manufactured 59235 calibre offers a high power reserve of 8 days. A highlight is the large date display at "12 o'clock". The date is displayed by a double date ring, with one disc showing the tens and a second disc containing the single digits. The engraving of the "Silver Spitfire" on the case back commemorates the successful completion of the "Longest Flight" expedition.
